Program Overview

This program provides students with a strong foundation in the hospitality and tourism industry, blending global standards with insights relevant to the Global market. It is designed to produce graduates who can lead operations in hotels, resorts, event planning, travel agencies, airlines, tourism boards, and entrepreneurial ventures.

Program Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the Bachelor’s in Hospitality & Tourism at PAIU, graduates will be able to demonstrate a well-rounded set of academic, professional, technological, and interpersonal competencies that meet the demands of a modern, global, and evolving hospitality and tourism industry. Each outcome reflects both international expectations and local Nigerian industry relevance.

  • Demonstrate Mastery of Core Hospitality & Tourism Concepts: Graduates will exhibit a strong understanding of the key principles, functions, and systems in hospitality and tourism management, including hotel operations, event planning, guest services, food and beverage management, and travel logistics. This includes the ability to apply theoretical frameworks in real-world situations within local and international contexts.
  • Apply Practical Industry Skills Across Multiple Sectors: Students will be able to perform essential tasks within hotels, restaurants, travel agencies, events companies, and tourism boards using industry-standard tools and processes. This includes reservation systems, customer service protocols, front office management, housekeeping standards, and food service operations all aligned with both international and Nigerian hospitality practices.
  • Develop and Apply Strong Business Acumen: Graduates will demonstrate the ability to manage business functions such as budgeting, revenue management, financial forecasting, and cost control. They will understand how to interpret financial statements, develop pricing strategies, and optimize operations for profitability  critical skills for hospitality entrepreneurs, hotel managers, and tourism business owners in Nigeria and abroad.
  •  Solve Complex Problems Using Critical Thinking and Data:  Graduates will be trained to assess operational and strategic challenges using logical reasoning, data analytics, and problem-solving frameworks. They will be able to make informed decisions when dealing with customer complaints, service failures, overbooking issues, logistical challenges, and risk management scenarios.
  • Communicate with Clarity and Impact: Graduates will demonstrate excellence in written and oral communication  able to write professional reports, deliver presentations, negotiate with vendors, and communicate effectively with team members, clients, guests, and executives. They will also be equipped to adapt communication styles to diverse audiences, including international tourists, regulators, and corporate partners.
  • Exhibit Cultural Sensitivity and Global Awareness:  In preparation for global careers, graduates will develop a deep understanding of cultural diversity, guest expectations, and behavior across regions. They will be able to tailor service delivery to different cultural backgrounds, promote inclusive experiences, and respect local traditions  especially vital in Global diverse hospitality and tourism landscape.
  •  Understand and Navigate the Global Hospitality & Tourism Landscape: Graduates will be able to identify global trends, industry shifts, and post-pandemic recovery strategies. They will understand how international standards (e.g., WTTC, UNWTO, IATA) influence tourism policies and business strategies and will be able to align their knowledge with both domestic (Nigerian) and global opportunities.
  • Understand the Global Business Landscape: Analyze international accounting standards, global market dynamics, and cultural diversity to operate effectively in multinational contexts and anticipate the implications of global economic trends.
  •  Pursue Continuous Professional and Academic Growth:  Graduates will value lifelong learning and be motivated to pursue postgraduate education, industry certifications (e.g., CIHM, IATA, CTH), and specialized training. They will also be prepared to innovate, adapt, and grow in response to technological changes, customer demands, and global hospitality disruptions.

  • Use modern hospitality software and tools, including booking systems, POS platforms, and customer relationship management (CRM) systems

  • Interpret business performance reports and apply budgeting, revenue management, and cost control techniques

  • Lead multicultural teams in hospitality settings, resolve conflicts, and manage service quality

  • Adapt to global tourism trends and understand both Nigerian and international tourism markets, challenges, and opportunities

  • Ensure compliance with hospitality law, safety regulations, and ethical practices, including sustainability and responsible tourism
